The University of East Anglia and Lahore University of Management Sciences joint Ph.D. program

The School of Economics at the University of East Anglia, and the Department of Economics at the Lahore University of Management Sciences invites prospective PhD students for their fully funded joint PhD partnership in Economics.

The successful PhD student will undertake their studies at the University of East Anglia, under the supervision of scholars in both departments of Economics.  This unique scholarship is open to any students of Pakistani origin.  Students are expected to undertake research on Pakistan, in the areas of expertise at the UEA School of Economics (see more here: https://www.uea.ac.uk/about/school-of-economics/research/research-groups).  Students selected in this program will have two supervisors, one from each institution.

The PhD program will be standard UEA three-year PhD program plus one year of writing, for a total of four years. The first year of study includes required coursework that must be undertaken at the University of East Anglia, after which it is expected that the student may travel between Universities to undertake fieldwork.  The student will be expected to complete all the required PhD modules, which will take one year and one semester.

Application process:  To apply, the first step is to contact Dr. Turab Husain (ueaeconphd@lums.edu.pk), who is administering the program at LUMS. Dr. Husain will match the students research interests with Faculty at LUMS.  After this step, it is expected that the student will apply through the UEA application process, but will clarify that they will apply through this track, and the name of their proposed supervisor at LUMS.

You are welcome to contact Dr. Sheheryar Banuri (s.banuri@uea.ac.uk) at UEA to hear more about the opportunity too.
