Dr. Ayesha Ali & Ihsan Ayyub Qazi’s proposal won the prestigious Meta/Facebook Foundational Integrity Research Award 2022-23 for the third time
Dr Ayesha Ali is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, LUMS. Her proposal (working together with Dr Qazi), “Gamifying Media Literacy Interventions for Low Digital Literacy Populations” has just won the prestigious Meta/Facebook Foundational Integrity Research Award 2022-23. This is the third time that they have won this highly selective award. This award provides an unrestricted grant of USD 50,000 to develop game-based digital media literacy interventions for countering misinformation.
They will use this award to further their research studying effective ways to counter misinformation among low digital populations. This includes the work on studying characteristics that make social media users vulnerable to misinformation (such as digital literacy and cognitive reflection), developing validated measurement tools to capture digital literacy, and using an experimental approach to studying the impact of educational interventions to counter misinformation.
We congratulate Dr. Ayesha for her brilliant achievement!
