The British Academy has funded Dr Sadia Zulfiqar’s proposed monograph “Leila Aboulela and the Direction of African Novel”. Aberystwyth University in Wales will host Dr Zulfiqar as a BA fellow for the duration of 9 months (September 23-May 2024). During her stay there, Dr Zulfiqar will present her work at two of the Department’s research clusters ‘Place and Belonging’ and ‘Emotional Lives’; will hold a public event with writer Leila Aboulela at the National Library of Wales (Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru); and will organize a one-day symposium with the Centre of Movement of People (COMP) and Syrian refugee community at Aberystwyth.
