MAKLI: Studies in Epigraphy

Dr. Kaleemullah Lashari

A discussion of an Epigraphic study of Makli, the largest necropolis in the world: Makli’s wonderful collection of inscriptions claims its importance, and the study in question has considered every written word in both the officially protected area and in the historic graveyard that extends beyond. The study has shown the contents of the epigraphs to vary from quotations of the Qur’an, to traditional Persian elegies. A thorough investigation of the epigraphic content of Makli, as seen in this study, can help in understanding the importance of the Necropolis.
