Keynote Talk by Architect Arif Hasan: The Horse That Ran Away With the Bit

Mr. Arif Hasan is an architect/planner in Karachi who has worked extensively on urban planning and development issues. He is also an activist, social researcher and writer. He has been involved with the OPP in Karachi since 1981,& is a founding member of the Urban Resource Centre in Karachi. He is on the board of several international journals and research organizations, including the Bangkok-based Asian Coalition for Housing Rights, and is a former Visiting Fellow at the International Institute for Environment and Development, UK.

Arif Hasan has received a number of awards for his work, including the Hilal-i-Imtiaz - Pakistan’s highest award for its citizens. His work can be accessed through the following website:
