Ham-`asr Urdū Afsānā: A Tribute to Asad Muhammad Khan

The Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature at MGSHSS, in collaboration with  Halqa-e-Danish, presents a series on contemporary Urdu short fiction titled “Ham`asr Urdū Afsānā”. The series will pay tribute to three distinguished contemporary writers, by inviting them to read and discuss their work. The second session of the series, a daylong event to celebrate the work of Asad Mohammad Khan, will be held on October 4, 2019. In the first half of the program, the author will read excerpts from his stories, and engage in a discussion of his work with Dr. Zia-ul-Hassan, professor of Urdu literature at LUMS. In the latter half of the day the discussion of Asad Mohammad Khan’s work will be continued by a number of critics and writers, including Mohammad Hameed Shahid, Mubeen Mirza, and Hameeda Shaheen.

Asad Mohammad Khan is a preminent contemporary short story writer, poet, dramatist, and translator. He is the author of several books including Khiṛkī Bhar Āsmān, Narbada, Ghussay Ki Na’ī Faṣal, Burj Khamoshan, Ik  Ṭukṛa Dhūp Ka,  Tīsrē Pehar Kī Kahāniān, and Ṭukṛon Mai Kahī Ga’ī Kahānī.
